MTN’s CFO moves to Nigeria, portfolio remains same

Scancom Plc., the parent company of MTN Ghana, has announced the appointment of Modupe Agbolade Kadri, Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Executive Director as CFO and Executive Director of MTN Nigeria effective March 1, 2020.

Kadri served MTN Ghana as Chief Financial Officer from 2014 for five years, and as Executive Director of MTN Ghana for four years. During his term, he led several business-critical projects including playing a key role in the listing of MTN Ghana on the Ghana Stock Exchange.

Kadri’s exceptional leadership won him the Ghana Telecoms CFO of the Year award 4 times, in 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019. Again during his tenure as CFO, MTN Ghana won the largest taxpayer award from 2014 to 2018 from the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), and in 2017 and 2018 from the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC).

According to a release by the company and signed by the Company’s Secretary, Pala Asiedu Ofori, the process of his replacement as CFO is ongoing, and will be communicated in due course.

The release further stated that Kadri will remain a Non-Executive Director of MTN Ghana, and its subsidiaries MobileMoney Limited and MTN Ghana Foundation, until further notice. In his absence, Kobina Sam Bentsi-Enchill will serve as Acting Chief Financial Officer.

Bentsi-Enchill is currently the Senior Manager, Corporate Performance Management for MTN Ghana, and has over 18 years’ work experience in telecommunications. He holds a Bachelor’s degree in Commerce from the University of Cape Coast, and is a Chartered Management Accountant of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, UK (CIMA).

“The Board of Directors of MTN Ghana and its subsidiaries would like to take this opportunity to express their gratitude to Kadri for his immense contribution to the Company during his tenure as CFO, and wish him every success in his new role as CFO of MTN Nigeria,” the release stated.
