In response to recent developments, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has issued a statement to provide clarity on the status of its contract with the Youth Employment Agency (YEA). The clarification follows a letter from the Office of the President dated June 11, 2025.
According to Zoomlion, “The YEA contract mentioned in the circulating letter related solely to the Street Sweeping Programme, originally set to expire in March 2024, but granted a six-month extension, thereby establishing its new expiration date as September 2024. The contract has therefore reached its natural conclusion and expired.”
Zoomlion emphasized that the contract’s expiration does not constitute a termination or cancellation by the government. The company has maintained a productive partnership with successive governments on the YEA module for over 19 years and supports the government’s intention to implement competitive procurement processes for future sanitation contracts.
Zoomlion reaffirms its commitment to collaborating with the government and all stakeholders to build a cleaner, greener, and more resilient Ghana for the benefit of all citizens. The company remains dedicated to ensuring dignified and sustainable livelihoods for sanitation workers across the country, aligning its mission with national development goals and the broader aspirations of the Ghanaian people.
By working together, Zoomlion aims to contribute to Ghana’s sustainable development goals, foster greater public trust, and strengthen institutional frameworks. The company’s long-standing commitment to environmental sanitation and waste management underscores its role as a leader in shaping Africa’s green transformation agenda.
