COVID-19: Zoomlion disinfects more Senior High Schools in Accra

Some private Senior High Schools (SHS) in Accra have disinfected their classrooms, offices and dormitories. The exercise conducted by Zoomlion Ghana is part of the National Agenda of ensuring that all SHS are free from any infection before reopening.

As part of efforts to stop the spread of Covid-19, Zoomlion Ghana Limited has been disinfecting markets, offices and schools across the country. Some private Senior High Schools have also benefited from the gesture. Santa Maria Senior High Schools located in Accra is the latest to benefit from this exercise.

Speaking to the media, the Director of Santa Maria SHS, Nana Dabonti was grateful for the gesture and believes that though they will conduct some disinfection exercises before school resumes, that of Zoomlion and her partners have been massive and very much helpful. He also opined that though the privates schools wish schools were reopened they will never support reopening of schools at the detriment of the health of their students.

“Though we will observe all the health protocols, the welfare of the students must be paramount. Our teachers are also feeling the heat but we found a way for them to take care of themselves” he explained.

At the Apostle Sarfo School of Arts and Science, the Assistant Headteacher, Hughes Lartey expressed his delight over the exercise and explains the headache posed by bedbugs to students and staff residence on the campus will come to an end as that gives them peace of mind as management. He further explains that private schools are also businesses that must be considered for the stimulus package introduced by the president.

“Private schools also have business certificates and must also be considered for the stimulus package from government to alleviate the suffering of teachers and other workers:” he concluded.

The General Manager of Fumigation Services Ghana Limited, Pious Asare explains that Fumigation Services Ghana Limited is partnering with Zoomlion to conduct the exercise in the various schools and he was very hopeful that all bedbugs and other insects that disturb the peace of mind of students will become a thing of the past when school resumes later in the year.
