Zoomlion rids Kumasi airport of bugs, insects

Waste management giants Zoomlion Ghana Limited has on Wednesday 17, 2020 carried out a disinfestation exercise at the Kumasi Airport.

This exercise targets insects, mosquitoes, cockroaches and mice in and around the offices of the facility.

On Friday February 19, the company also disinfected the airport against the spread of COVID-19.

The staff of the airport could not hide their excitement as they watched the Zoomlion spraying gangs enter every coner of the airport to carry out the disinfestation exercise.

The Airport Manager Abrefa Sarkodie stayed late into the night to ensure the right thing was done. He was satisfied with the work done.

The Ashanti Regional Vector Control Manager for Zoomlion, Ernest Nutor said this exercise was meant to rid the airport of insects, serpents, mosquitoes and mice among others so that the staff can work without fear of disturbance and diseases.

He disclosed that on Friday his outfit will also disinfect the airport against viruses and bacteria in an effort to curb the further spread of the Corona virus pandemic.

Nutor gave the assurance that the chemicals his outfit uses is world class saying “these are approved by the World Health Organisation and the Ghana Health Services for the purppses for which we use them”.

Last week, the Wa Airport which serves the travel needs and connects people to the Upper West region w as also fumigated against viruses, bedbugs, mice among other disease causing organisms.

The Airport which currently receives military aircrafts, chartered flights among others was receiving commercial domestic flight until the outbreak of Covid-19 which halted its commercial operation.

The Assistant Operations Manager of the WA Airport, Mohammed Saanni Alhassan during a fumigation exercise by Zoomlion Ghana Ltd intimated that Africa World Airline’s flight landed at the Airport and began commercial operations on October 15, 2019 and had to suspend operations due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
