Ashanti Region embraces 3rd Phase of market disinfection
The Ashanti region has embraced the third phase of nationwide markets disinfection exercise as all markets in the region were closed to pave way for the seamless execution of the exercise.
The disinfection exercise which would cover over 400 markets in the region is the third in series and forms part of government’s commitment to curb the covid-19 pandemic which is currently recording a surge in the rate of infection.
The Ashanti regional exercise begun at the Agogo Community Market at Atonsu, a suburb of Kumasi where all spaces in the markets were disinfected.
The Ashanti Regional Manager of Zoomlion Philip Yeboah Asante, speaking to the media stressed the urgent need for people to continue to observe the covid-19 protocols.
He explained that the surge in the covid-19 has necessitated the third phase of the disinfection in order to help contain and curb the spread of the virus in the country.
Yeboah Asante added that the disinfection exercise does not entirely wipe out the virus from the system, however it helps in reducing the rate of infection.
Covid numbers are increasing again so we need to start the 3rd one to curb the rise. This is disinfection against bacteria, viruses and small insects”, he emphasized.
He said that explains why the markets are being disinfected for the third time.
The Zoomlion Ashanti regional boss therefore called on the people to observe the protocols since the country is not out of the woods yet.
The MCE for Asokwa Akwannuasah Gyimah expressed his commitment to support Zoomlion Ghana Limited to execute exercise without blemish.

He said the third phase of disinfection shows government’s commitment to fight the pandemic hence the need for the municipal Assembly to also assist in that regard.
We are supporting the Zoomlion company with what ever assistance they need to make the exercise a success”, he said.
He later commended the market women for complying with the process even though on a short notice, whilst also appealing to the public to intensify the adherence of the covid-19 protocols.
My advice is that everybody should wear their mask and the social distancing. Unfortunately people have relaxed on the protocols. I think if we are able to observe these protocols this virus can vanish” the MCE emphasized.
