MTN Ghana has highlighted the opportunities available to businesses in the digital economy through the third edition of its MTN Masterclass Series, bringing together experts and entrepreneurs to discuss how digital tools, artificial intelligence (AI) and strategic partnerships can drive growth and competitiveness.
Held in Accra under the theme, “Thriving in the Digital Economy: Unlocking Opportunities in a Digital-First World,” the programme brought together more than 120 entrepreneurs and business customers physically, with additional participants joining through MTN Ghana’s digital platforms.
Welcoming participants, Eric Puplampu, Senior Manager, Products, User Experience and Design at MTN Ghana, said the Masterclass was designed to equip businesses with practical insights, digital skills and strategies to help them succeed in an increasingly digital economy.
He said, “The objective is not simply to keep up with change. It is to understand the opportunities that change presents and use them to build stronger, more competitive businesses. As we celebrate our 30th Anniversary under theme 30 Years of Progress, Powered by You, we remain focused on supporting Ghana’s digital transformation by providing the technology, knowledge and platforms that help businesses grow, create jobs and contribute to national development”.
The panel featured Rachael Tachie-Menson, Founder and Managing Partner of Author Digital Labs and author; Isaac Kofi Maafo, CEO of DigiTransact AI and Executive Director of BulkSMS Ghana; and Gideon Asare, CEO of Adansi Travels and Founder of Africon AI. The discussions explored how businesses can leverage emerging technologies, digital tools and strategic partnerships to improve efficiency, access new markets and remain competitive in an increasingly digital economy.
Speaking on the impact of artificial intelligence, Rachael Tachie-Menson, Founder and Managing Partner of Author Digital Labs, said AI is changing the nature of work and value creation, making critical thinking, judgement, leadership and domain expertise increasingly important. “I think the biggest opportunity here is simply thinking about what becomes possible rather than what we lose,” she said.
On practical business applications, Isaac Kofi Maafo, CEO of DigiTransact AI and Executive Director of BulkSMS Ghana, encouraged businesses, particularly SMEs, to adopt simple digital tools to improve efficiency and better manage their operations. “Use simple tools with clarity and discipline,” he advised, noting that AI-powered entrepreneurship presented significant opportunities for businesses seeking to improve productivity and solve everyday challenges.
Sharing his experience on business growth in the digital era, Gideon Asare, CEO of Adansi Travels and Founder of Africon AI, highlighted the role of digital platforms in helping businesses expand beyond their immediate geographical locations. “If you could sit in Obuasi and get a customer in Accra, somebody who never knew you, that is the digital economy,” he said, encouraging businesses to leverage digital platforms and strategic partnerships to accelerate growth and access new markets.
The panellists also underscored the importance of credibility, visibility and trust in the digital space, encouraging professionals and businesses to share knowledge consistently, engage meaningfully with audiences and build authentic relationships online.
MTN Ghana will host a fourth edition of the Masterclass Series later this year as part of its efforts to facilitate conversations on trends and opportunities shaping Ghana’s digital economy.
