Prudential Bank Limited has successfully completed a landmark GHS 1.13 billion strategic capital investment by Bloom Africa Holdings Ghana Limited following the receipt of formal regulatory approval from the Bank of Ghana.
This capital infusion bolsters Prudential Bank’s capital position, elevating it well above the regulatory minimum requirements. It reinforces the Bank’s financial resilience and provides substantial additional capacity to expand support for customers and businesses, while accelerating the pursuit of sustainable, long-term growth.
A Strengthened Foundation for Growth
The investment marks an important milestone in Prudential Bank’s evolution. As one of Ghana’s longest-serving indigenous banks, Prudential Bank has built a strong legacy of customer trust, deep market relationships and consistent service delivery. This capital injection significantly strengthens the Bank’s financial position and provides additional capacity to build on that legacy, compete more aggressively and pursue new opportunities for growth.
The funds will be deployed to:
Enhance Customer Experience: Invest in technology and service delivery to better serve the Bank’s growing client base.
Support Business Growth: Provide increased lending capacity to Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and corporate clients, driving economic activity.
Drive Innovation: Accelerate digital transformation initiatives to remain at the forefront of banking convenience.
Commenting on the investment, Ebow Quayson, Acting Managing Director of Prudential Bank, said:
This investment significantly strengthens Prudential Bank and enhances our capacity to deliver on the priorities we have set for the Bank. It gives us greater capacity to invest in technology and service delivery, support the growth of our customers and their businesses, accelerate our digital transformation and position the Bank for its next phase of sustainable growth.”
Gabriel Edgal, Board Chairman of Bloom Africa Holdings, said:
Prudential Bank has a strong legacy in Ghana, built on a deep understanding of its customers, businesses and the market it serves. We want to build on that foundation as part of a truly Pan-African financial institution that understands local markets and the businesses that drive them, while connecting those businesses to capital and opportunities across the continent. We believe Africa’s growth must be supported by strong African institutions that can facilitate trade, mobilise capital and enable businesses to grow within and beyond their immediate markets.”
The Board and Management of Prudential Bank express their appreciation to the Bank of Ghana for its guidance and support throughout the process, and to the Bank’s shareholders, customers, employees and other stakeholders for their continued confidence and support.
