The media capacity-building initiative for reporting on disability invites applications for a second cohort
YALI TV in partnership with the US Embassy in Ghana is receiving applications for the second cohort of the Media Capacity Building Initiative for Reporting on Disability. The fellowship would train, empower and equip journalists who provide comprehensive reportage on the predicament, challenges, and impacts of persons living with a disability.
In Ghana, it is acknowledged that people with disabilities are frequently under-covered by the mainstream press or that coverage about them is often inaccurate or incomplete. YALI TV and its partners believe that this initiative would empower and amplify the voices and efforts of journalists who have distinguished themselves in helping to reduce this stigma and discrimination, as well as lead to improved government policies on disability.
The fellowship would fund thirty journalists/media professionals in digital, print, and broadcast media who are working within the fellowship’s theme for the 2-day residential training in Takoradi, W/R.
Other implementing partners include the Ghana Journalist Association, National Center on Disability and Journalism-USA, and BlueCrest University College.
YALITV and its partners are grateful for stakeholder and public interests so far.
We are open to partnerships and support as we empower the voices of persons with disability through ethical journalism and media practice.
