QNET has reaffirmed its commitment to supporting law-enforcement authorities in the fight against human trafficking, fraudulent recruitment schemes and other forms of transnational organised crime following an operation in Ghana that resulted in the rescue and arrest of foreign nationals believed to be connected to a travel scam syndicate.
The operation, conducted on July 21, 2026, was undertaken by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO), with support from QNET, following a regional law-enforcement workshop jointly organised by EOCO, INTERPOL and QNET in Ghana in July 2026. The workshop focused on the “Model Q Modus Operandi” and strengthened the capacity of law-enforcement officers across West and Central Africa to identify, disrupt and investigate emerging forms of transnational organised crime, including human trafficking, migrant smuggling, digital fraud and deceptive recruitment schemes.
The July operation resulted in the arrest and rescue of 44 foreign nationals, comprising 34 nationals of Burkina Faso, eight (8) from Côte d’Ivoire, one (1) from Mali and one (1) from Nigeria. Following preliminary screening conducted in collaboration with the respective diplomatic missions, 33 Burkinabe nationals were repatriated on August 13, 2026, and handed over to INTERPOL Burkina Faso at the Paga Border Post on August 14, 2026.
QNET’s support for the operation forms part of the company’s broader efforts to work with law-enforcement, the Burkina Faso Embassy in Ghana and other relevant stakeholders to address criminal networks that misuse the QNET name to deceive members of the public through fraudulent employment, travel and business-related schemes.
EOCO said the success of the operation underscored the importance of timely information-sharing and cooperation between law enforcement, the private sector and international partners. EOCO also acknowledged the cooperation received from QNET, INTERPOL and other stakeholders in supporting efforts to identify and disrupt criminal networks exploiting vulnerable individuals through fraudulent recruitment and related schemes, while reaffirming its commitment to strengthening such partnerships to protect the public and combat organised crime.
For QNET, the operation also reinforces the importance of companies taking an active role in helping authorities address the misuse of legitimate brands and business opportunities by criminal networks.
Cherif Sarr, Regional General Manager, Central and West Africa, QNET, said: “Criminal networks that misuse QNET’s name damage trust and, more importantly, put vulnerable people at risk. We have a responsibility to act when we become aware of such activity, whether by sharing information with the authorities, supporting investigations or helping the public verify legitimate QNET opportunities. We will continue to strengthen these safeguards across the region.”
QNET encourages members of the public to exercise caution when approached with offers that appear to guarantee employment, travel opportunities or other benefits while falsely claiming to represent QNET.
As part of its commitment to strengthening verification and reporting mechanisms, QNET has established a Compliance Office in Accra where relevant authorities and the media can seek information or clarification regarding suspected misuse of the QNET name.
