Prof. Robert Hinson ranked number one Business and Marketing Scholar in Ghana

The AD Scientific Index Report 2021 has ranked Professor Robert Ebo Hinson as the number one Business and Marketing Scholar on Ghana.

This ranking means that for the Business & Management and Marketing categories, Professor Hinson is the highest ranked business and marketing scholar in Ghana.

Professor Hinson who is the Head of the Department of Marketing and Entrepreneurship at the University of Ghana Business School was the only marketing scholar captured in the first decile of the AD Scientific Index Report 2021.

He is also the Acting Director of Institutional Advancement at the same University.

His scholarship is captured under the Business & Management / Marketing and he is ranked 7th at the University of Ghana and 21st in Ghana.

Professor Hinson who has been a marketing practitioner for 25 years started off in the industry and joined academia in 2003 and rose to Professor in under 10 years.

He has trained several thousand students and practitioners across Africa and the world on various marketing, sales, social responsibility and service issues. He is a Chartered Marketer, holds an MBA in Marketing, DPhil in Marketing from the University of Ghana, and a PhD in International Business Economics from the Aalborg University Business School in Denmark.

A prolific scholar, he has over a hundred scientific publications to his credit, several more trade publications on various issues, and is currently editing the Palgrave Studies of Public Sector Management in Africa and the Palgrave Studies of Marketing in Emerging Economies .  He has edited/authored 15 books to date and has worked in various capacities for Universities in Africa, Europe and North America.

A globally sought after speaker, Professor Hinson has also consulted for, provided executive training for,  and  also provided brand management services to brands like the Jospong Group of Companies, Allianz, Omni Media, Daewoo, The Enterprise Group, Golden Tulip Hotels, LG, Lufthansa, Mercedes Benz, Peugeot, Standard Chartered, Air I’voire,  FedEx, Aganzi Condoms, Databank, to name a few.

Professor Hinson believes passionately that African scholars should produce Africa-centric knowledge so that Business Schools based in Africa can continue producing context relevant knowledge for solving African business and economic challenges. This vision of his, is even more relevant in the light of the new Africa Continental Free Trade Area.

213 scientist from Ghana were ranked in research proficiency

For Ghana, 213 scientists were ranked in relation to their research proficiency and impact.

The AD Scientific Index (Alper-Doger Scientific Index), unlike other systems that provide evaluations of journals and universities, is a ranking and analysis system based on the scientific performance and the added value of the scientific productivity of individual scientists.

Out of the 231 scientists who made the ranking cut-off, was Professor Dwomoa Adu of the University of Ghana who was ranked number one in Ghana and number one in the University of Ghana as well.

Professor Dwomoa Adu’s scholarship was captured under the Medical and Health Sciences / Dentistry subject area.

Other notable University of Ghana scholars captured in the first decile of the scientific ranking included Professor Ernest Aryeetey, who was ranked 6th in Ghana and 2nd at the University of Ghana. His scholarship was captured under Economics & Econometrics /Economics.

Professor Isabella Quakyi, a former Dean of the School of Public Health was also ranked 5th in the University of Ghana and 14th in Ghana.
