The Ghana National Gas Company Ltd (Ghana Gas) has announced a planned shutdown of the Atuabo Gas Processing Plant from Saturday, August 16, to Saturday, August 30, 2025, to undertake routine maintenance works.
The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition, which approved the request, assured the public that adequate measures have been taken to prevent disruptions to the country’s power supply.
“Ghana Gas will temporarily suspend the supply of gas within the stated period to facilitate this essential maintenance,” the ministry stated in a release signed by its Spokesperson and Head of Communication, Richmond Rockson.
To mitigate any potential impact, the ministry disclosed that alternative fuel sources will be deployed in collaboration with major power sector players to offset the temporary shortfall in gas supply.
According to the statement, the shutdown will enable Ghana Gas to conduct thorough inspections, repairs, and upgrades of key equipment and systems, with the goal of boosting efficiency, safety, and long-term reliability.
The ministry further pledged to provide regular updates throughout the maintenance period while reaffirming government’s commitment to ensuring stable electricity supply across the country.
