The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has officially sworn in its newly elected national executives to steer the affairs of the Association toward a brighter and more prosperous future.
Founded in July 1991, PRINPAG is a non-profit body registered with the Registrar General’s Department and limited by guarantee.
Delivering the welcome address, Executive Secretary of PRINPAG, Jeorge Wilson Kingson, JP, described the ceremony as a testament to the Association’s democratic spirit, unity, and resilience.
“I congratulate the incoming National Executive Committee, led by Mr. David Sitsofe Tamakloe, and sincerely urge all members to support them with ideas, contributions, and active engagement,” Mr. Kingson stated. He stressed that the success of PRINPAG is a shared responsibility, anchored on its mission to protect press freedom, maintain professionalism, and advance the welfare of members.
In his acceptance speech, newly sworn-in President David Sitsofe Tamakloe emphasized the significance of the ceremony, describing it as the beginning of a new chapter for PRINPAG.
“I acknowledge the responsibility to safeguard the dreams of our members and elevate the voice of the private and independent press,” he affirmed. Reflecting on his early days in journalism, Mr. Tamakloe highlighted the challenges and conviction that gave birth to PRINPAG, paying tribute to pioneers who fought for press freedom under difficult circumstances.
He further pledged to introduce initiatives to promote education and networking among members, including scholarship opportunities for higher learning.
Speaking on behalf of the Minister for Government Communication, Hon. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Shamima Muslim reiterated the government’s commitment to protecting press freedom and assured PRINPAG of full support and collaboration, noting that “press freedom is good business for government.”
