Ghana Link Network Services Ltd, the operators of the Integrated Customs Management Systems (ICUMS), has categorically refuted claims that scanners at Kotoka International Airport Cargo Village are broken down.
The company asserts that all scanners are fully functional and operational, with five scanners deployed at the airport, including four export scanners and one import scanner.
According to the company, the scanners are manufactured by globally recognized leaders in airport security technology, including Smiths Heimann, France, and Rapiscan Systems, USA. The company emphasizes that all goods arriving by air cargo undergo mandatory scanning before being released to Customs, and that sniffer dogs are occasionally deployed as an additional layer of scrutiny based on specific intelligence leads.
Ghana Link Network Services Ltd has expressed grave concerns over the inaccurate and unverified information, which risks undermining public trust in the port and border security systems, attracting unwarranted scrutiny from international stakeholders, and damaging the reputation of companies that undertake scanning services.
The company has called for immediate rectification, including correction of the misinformation, retraction of misleading headlines and articles, and clarification of the true state of affairs. Ghana Link Network Services Ltd remains committed to partnering with the State and its security institutions to enhance Ghana’s border integrity, but emphasizes the need for truth, accountability, and collaboration.
