Zoomlion Ghana Limited has issued a statement denying any involvement in illegal mining activities, commonly known as “galamsey.”
The company asserts that certain excavators and mining equipment bearing the “Zoomlion” brand name are being used in galamsey operations, but these equipment are not owned or operated by Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
Clarification on Equipment Origin
According to the statement, the equipment in question is manufactured by Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd., a Chinese company that is entirely independent of and unaffiliated with Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
The company emphasizes that “the public is hereby informed that the equipment in question bears the name ‘Zoomlion’ solely because it is manufactured by Zoomlion Heavy Industry Science & Technology Co., Ltd.”
Denial of Association
Zoomlion Ghana Limited strongly distances itself from any illegal mining activities and entities or individuals purporting an association with the company. The statement reads, “Any use of such equipment in connection with illegal mining is without the knowledge, consent, or approval of Zoomlion Ghana Limited.”
The company urges the public, stakeholders, and regulatory authorities to disregard any misrepresentation or unauthorized use of its name. Zoomlion Ghana Limited reiterates its commitment to lawful operations and emphasizes its non-involvement in galamsey activities.
