The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has set August 15, 2025, as the date for its much-anticipated National Executive Elections.
The decision was reached during the Association’s second quarter meeting for the year, where members of the National Executive settled on the date and subsequently announced the formation of a three-member Electoral Committee to oversee the election process.
According to a statement released by the PRINPAG Secretariat on Monday, June 23, 2025, the Electoral Committee will be responsible for organizing and supervising the entire electoral process to ensure transparency and credibility.
The committee members include:
- Lawyer Ken Agyei Kuranchie, Editor of the Daily Searchlight, who will serve as the Election Administrator.
- Desmond Darko of The Catalyst, appointed as the Deputy Election Administrator.
- Nimatu Yakubu Atuoyese from NewsDesksgh, who takes up the role of Secretary.
The Secretariat is expected to provide full administrative support to the committee as it carries out its mandate.
The terms of reference for the Electoral Committee include the opening of nominations, conducting vetting of candidates, supervising voting, declaring results, and handling any other related activities that will ensure a smooth and credible electoral process.
The upcoming elections will usher in a new set of national executives to lead PRINPAG for the next three years. The Association has called on all eligible members to actively participate in the process and contribute to strengthening leadership and governance within the media industry.
PRINPAG has reiterated its commitment to upholding transparency, fairness, and democratic values in the management of its affairs.
