The Perfect Relief Foundation International, with support from the Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, has successfully commissioned a new 10-bed emergency unit at Mamprobi Hospital.

This initiative follows urgent concerns raised by the hospital’s management regarding the need for a larger emergency facility to address the increasing number of preventable deaths caused by delayed medical attention.

Previously, the hospital’s emergency unit operated with only three beds, serving over 50,000 patients.

The strain on resources often forced patients to be cared for in corridors, on stretchers, and even on benches in the outpatient department.

Speaking to Citi News, the Chief Executive Officer of the Foundation, Dr. Joelene Anom Clottey, reiterated the foundation’s dedication to addressing the community’s needs and improving the hospital’s infrastructure.

So, if this emergency room is put together, this can ease down the death rates because of the inability to take care of people in the emergency yet they have the personnel and I’m happy to be part of this because finally this has come to fruition,” she stated.

The Member of Parliament for Ablekuma South, Alfred Oko Vanderpuije, also praised the hospital’s management for their persistent efforts to enhance healthcare services. He highlighted previous successful projects, including the renovation of the hospital’s theatre and maternity block, which contributed to the facility’s elevation from a polyclinic to a full hospital.

We started with the theatre, and today we have a fully functional one. The maternity ward has been renovated and is now robust, handling deliveries. Today, we commission the emergency unit, and this is just the beginning. The best days for Mamprobi Hospital are yet to come.”

The Medical Superintendent of Mamprobi Hospital, Dr. Charlotte Alberta Cato, expressed her gratitude to all stakeholders and donors for their support. She also called for continued assistance to expand the hospital’s facilities further, particularly in the maternity unit.

Our vision is to become a center of excellence, providing comprehensive care to our clients. We urge more stakeholders to join us in this journey. To our Honourable MP, Ambassador Joelene Clottey, the Health Foundation, and everyone who has supported us, we say a big thank you,” she said.
