Over 40,000 farmlands belonging to cocoa farmers, which were temporarily taken for rehabilitation to enhance production, are set to be returned next month.

Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD) initially scheduled the release for April but postponed it to July.

The rehabilitation aims to address the decline in annual yields, leading to increased income for farmers and stakeholders.

The head of Public Affairs at COCOBOD, Fiifi Boafo, told Citi Business News that the handover of the farms will take place in July.

“The over 40,000 farms will be handed over next month. That is in July. Initially, it was planned to take place in April, but there was a change in plan.

So the decision is that July next month, those farms will be handed over to the owners. I am referring to the farmers who originally owned these farms,“ Boafo noted.
