Ghana’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs has announced a 30% reduction in passport application fees, effective November 13, 2025.
The new fee for a standard 32-page passport will be GH₵350, down from GH₵500. this was announced on the Foreign Affairs Minister’s Facebook page.
This change is part of the government’s efforts to make essential services more affordable for Ghanaians. The reduced fee applies to both new passport applications and renewals. Notably, the new fee includes courier delivery, eliminating extra charges for applicants.
Processing times have also been shortened, with regular applications taking 15 working days and expedited ones taking three days. Ghana has fully transitioned to chip-embedded e-passports, aligning with international security standards.
The Ministry’s move aims to increase accessibility and discourage the use of middlemen and unauthorized agents who exploit applicants. This adjustment reflects the government’s commitment to making travel documents more affordable for all Ghanaians.
