Quality Education can be achieved through strategic collaborative initiatives by Private Sector and Government as a means to accelerating efforts in attainment of UN Sustainable Development Goal 4.

This has been demonstrated over the years by Nestlé MILO through its support for the President’s Independence Day Awards which recognizes and rewards brilliant Ghanaian students in the Basic Education Certificate Examination, annually.

Nestlé MILO collaborated once again with the Ministry of Education and its implementing Agency, Ghana Education Service to reward 36 outstanding students, male and female from each of the 16 Regions of Ghana and overall national best student female and male hearing impaired and visual impaired. Each of the students received a cash prize, a tablet, crystal plaque, medallion, certificate and citation of honor signed by the President of the Republic, a year supply of Nestlé products, and assorted books and stationery from co-sponsors to help further their education.

Speaking at the awards Ceremony, Philomena Tan, Managing Director of Nestlé Ghana, highlighted the combined role of nutrition and learning to quality education. She shared that Nestlé has initiated a campaign to help educate Ghanaians on Iron Deficiency as its affects productivity of individuals including children of school going age. “Iron Deficiency slows productivity and low productivity affects academic performance among children in school. In this regard, we will continue to help educate Ghanaians including our school children on the importance of proper nutrition for their wellbeing and development while working through other interventions to promote quality education in Ghana”.

Speaking on behalf of the President of Ghana, His Excellency Mahamudu Bawumia Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, congratulated the students for their outstanding performances and thanked Nestlé Ghana Ltd. for their continuous support to Quality Education in Ghana.
