Nestlé Ghana has clarified that its infant formula products are not part of the voluntary recall announced in some countries. “We would like to clarify that Infant Formula sold by Nestlé Ghana is not part of the voluntary and precautionary recall or withdrawal of specific batches of infant formula announced in some countries,” the company stated.
The recall, affecting several countries, was prompted by concerns over potential contamination with cereulide, a toxin produced by Bacillus cereus bacteria. However, Nestlé Ghana emphasizes that all SMA and NAN product ranges sold locally are safe for consumption, including SMA Gold 1, SMA Gold 2, SMA Gold 3, NAN Optipro 1, NAN Optipro 2, and NAN Optipro 3.
We want to emphasize that Nestlé Infant Formula products registered with the Food and Drugs Authority and sold by Nestlé Ghana are not affected by this recall,” the company added.
This assurance comes after some countries recalled specific batches of infant formula as a precautionary measure.
The safety and quality of our products, and the health of babies, are our top priorities,” Nestlé Ghana assured.
The company has also urged consumers with concerns to contact them directly via corporate.affair@gh.nestle.com.
Nestlé Ghana’s statement aims to alleviate concerns among parents and caregivers, ensuring they have accurate information about the safety of infant formula products available in the local market.
