MobileMoney LTD has responded to a viral TikTok video alleging a MoMo fraud incident, advising customers to report suspicious activities.
The controversy began when ‘HealwithDiana | Nervous System’ shared a video highlighting the alleged fraud incident involving her mother’s Mobile Money account. In response, MobileMoney LTD issued a statement clarifying their investigation findings.
We appreciate the concerns raised and wish to provide clarification based on our internal investigations,”
MobileMoney LTD said. According to the company, the affected customer shared sensitive security details with a fraudster, including MoMo App Registration OTP, MoMo PIN, and Login OTP, during a phone call.
MobileMoney LTD will never request a customer’s OTP, MoMo PIN, or any personal security code under any circumstance,” the statement emphasized.
The company stressed that every security notification sent to customers includes a clear warning not to share these codes with anyone.
The statement further revealed that the number used by the fraudster has been blocked and blacklisted on the MoMo platform and suspended from voice services. MobileMoney LTD is working with relevant partners and law enforcement authorities as part of the ongoing review.
We strongly urge customers to remain vigilant and avoid sharing personal security credentials with any third party,” said MobileMoney LTD.
Customers are advised to report fraud concerns to the MTN 419 Helpline immediately.
