The inaugural Corporate Services Executive (CSE) of MTN Ghana, Mawuena Adzo Trebarh (Nee Dumor) has passed on at age 52.
Reports say Mawuena, who is the big sister of the late famous BBC and Joy FM broadcaster, Komla Dumor, passed on April 11, 2024 after a short illness, just a day before she turns 53.
The eloquent and well-spoken communicator and geologist chalked a number of firsts in her very eventful life time.
Before taking on the MTN CSE job, when MTN first came to Ghana, Mawuena was the first ever female underground exploration geologist with Ashanti Goldfields. She then went on to become the first female CEO of Ghana Investment Promotion Centre after MTN.
After leaving public office in 2017, when the NDC government was voted out, Mawuena became the deputy spokesperson of the John Mahama campaign, during which period she also worked as the lead spokesperson for John Mahama’s running mate, Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyeman.
In a rather short life, Mawuena has been recognized through a number of national and international awards including the Millennium Leadership Forum Award for championing excellence in trade investment and agro-processing and the National Youth Role Model Award for being a role model and youth leader.
Mawuena was survived by her husband, Flt. Lt. Divine Trebarh, their daughter, her father Prof. Dumor and her younger brother who is a medical doctor.
