Journalists for Business Advocacy (JBA) has expressed deep sadness and shock over the devastating news of a helicopter crash that claimed the lives of Hon. Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane-Boamah, Hon. Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Alhaji Dr. lbrahim Murtala Mohammed and six other individuals, including military officers: Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Samuel Aboagye, Squadron Leader Peter Bafimi Anala, Flying Officer Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah.
In a press statement signed by its vice president, Kofi Ahovi, the organization extends its heartfelt condolences to the President, Government, and people of Ghana, as well as the families, friends, and colleagues of the deceased.
JBA is appealing to journalists to balance the need to inform the public with respect for the privacy of the affected families. The organization encourages journalists to promote messages of hope, solidarity, and compassion, and to avoid sensationalism during this difficult time.
