The Inter-School Reading Quiz (ISRQ) 2025 has officially launched under the theme “Literacy for All; Inclusivity in Action,” with a strong focus on empowering young readers and enhancing literacy for life. The launch event, held at the British Council in Accra, attracted over 100 attendees, including previous participants, winners, patrons, representatives from government agencies, traditional councils, and literacy-friendly organizations from Ghana and across Africa.

Organized by Perbi Cubs, the ISRQ aims to cultivate a love for reading and improve literacy skills among children aged 6 to 14 across schools in Ghana. This year’s event has already witnessed a surge in registrations from schools across various country regions, showcasing its growing popularity.

The ISRQ competition encourages students to immerse themselves in books, broadening their vocabulary and literary knowledge across diverse subjects and genres. Participants are assessed through questions designed to be both fun and challenging, with the top-performing school earning an exciting international trip. Prizes and recognition will also be awarded to the runner-up and second-runner-up schools.

In a speech delivered on her behalf, Mrs. Anyele Perbi, one of the key figures behind the initiative, emphasized the unique nature of this year’s edition, which embraces inclusivity by welcoming visually and hearing-impaired learners into the competition. She reiterated Perbi Cubs’ commitment to overcoming Africa’s learning challenges through digital libraries, the Success Club, Funtastika, and the ISRQ initiatives.

Esteemed guests from the Centre for National Distance Learning and Open Schooling (CENDLOS), Mastercard Foundation, and UNESCO highlighted the crucial role reading plays in shaping Ghana’s youth, stressing the importance of literacy in national development.

As the ISRQ 2025 kicks off, Perbi Cubs looks forward to fostering innovation, excitement, and a celebration of reading excellence nationwide.
