ICC Chair Maria Fernanda Garza to visit Ghana in March 2024

The first female Chair of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), Maria Fernanda Garza will visit Ghana from the March 1-5, 2024.

The International Chamber of Commerce elected Maria Fernanda Garza from Mexico as the ICC Chair in 2022, making her the first woman to hold this position. Her predecessor was Ajay Banga, who was appointed as President of the World Bank.

She is the CEO of Orestia, a manufacturing home improvement solutions company based in Mexico, with exports to the USMCA region, Latin America and Asia. She has been a lifelong advocate for small and medium-sized businesses in her home country and around world.

Whilst in Ghana, she will meet with government officials and the business community and launch the 2nd ICC Africa Sustainable Supply Chain Summit, Women in Trade & Tourism and the 2023 edition of the ICC Rules on Combating Corruption.

She is a member of the WIPO Advisory Board, UN Internet Governance Forum and part of the group of leaders and advisors of the B20.

ICC Ghana Secretary General, Emmanuel Doni-Kwame, said: “We look forward to working with her in building the capacity of International Chamber of Commerce in Ghana”.
