Heads of SHS in Western North commend gov’t, Zoomlion

The heads of Sefwi Bekwai senior secondary school and Otoo Educational Complex in the Western North Region have commended the government and Zoomlion for disinfecting schools ahead of the reopening.

Speaking to the media after waste management expect, Zoomlion Ghana Limited, the Senior House Master of Sefwi Bekwai SHS, Francis Gyapong expressed the school’s appreciation to government and Zoomlion for undertaking the exercise in the interest of the country.

He said, disinfecting the school is very important in safeguarding the safety of the students.

He mentioned that the school has some of the Covid-19 preventive materials (nose masks, liquid soaps, etc) available which could last for two weeks after resumption of schools, adding that the materials will also give confidence to the students and parents since they are afraid of the safety of their wards.

We will however need more of the nose masks, liquid soaps and the hand sanitizers and we wish government and other stakeholders can help,” Gyanpong called for help.

The school is expecting about 1,000 students in the 2020/2021 academic year.

He assured that the school has enough space to accommodate the expected the numbers without having to comprise on social/physical distancing.

The Administrator of Otoo educational complex at Bibiani, Francis Ahotoyon, who also commended the both the government and Zoomlion said he was happy that the school which is a private school has been added to the disinfection exercise.

“Previously, we were not added to the beneficially schools but this time around we have been added and this will help us to make some savings,” he appreciated.

He noted that the school will ensure that the students numbering about 500 will adhere to the Covid-19 protocols.

The disinfection exercise is being undertaken by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with waste management giant, Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) to control the spread of the Covid-19 in the country particularly in educational institutions.
