The President of KasaBazaar, a real estate company, John William Adel, has appealed to the government to reduce taxes on building materials to enable players in the real estate sector to provide affordable housing for the general public.

Speaking at the official launch of the company’s operations in Accra, Adel said it was equally important for the government to introduce policies and interventions that would enable the financial institutions to provide less expensive credit facilities to businesses, including the real estate sector.

He said the current cost of doing business in the country was very expensive, a situation that had affected many businesses, making it difficult for them to stay afloat.

We hope that government will reduce taxes on building materials.

That is the most important thing.

The government must also support the banks for them to provide more liquidity for the real estate companies to be able to build more affordable houses for people.

The government is helping but it can do more,” he said.

Expansion

KasaBazaar, which started from Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital, has so far expanded its operations to Takoradi in the Western Region and Accra.

The company deals in real estate, property management and shipment of goods from abroad to its final destination in any part of the country.

We are already in Accra because we have so many projects here.

We, however, decided to come out officially” Adel said.

Explaining the business model, the Chief Executive Officer of the company, Rose Adel, said the company helped people to build and also completed their buildings within a short period for the customer to pay over a long term.

“We help our client build their visions and they pay gradually.

We give them payment options and the pay based on the option that they choose,’ she said.
