The Member of Parliament for the Manhyia South Constituency in the Ashanti Region, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh has congratulated all farmers in the area on the occasion of celebrating the 37th National Farmers Day.
“Our gallant and ever hardworking farmers deserve to be mentioned in all discourses for feeding the constituency and beyond,” he said.
He said: “As the MP, I will continue to work hard and liaise with the appropriate agencies to ensure that farming is taken to the next level,” he added.
In a message, Dr. Prempeh said: “Although, there are lots of problems confronting farmers in the country, the current government is working assiduously to address those problems.”
Dr. Prempeh said that farmers within Manhyia South and other places must be commended for being resilient in their quest to feed the nation.
The Manhyia South MP, who is also the Minister of Energy, charged the youth not to see farming as preoccupation of the aged and go into it to help check unemployment.
“I wish our farmers well and want to assure them that I will always stand by them,” he said.
This year’s Farmers Day Celebration is themed ‘Planting For Food And Jobs – Consolidating Food Systems In Ghana.’
