MTN has organized a webinar focused on empowering women in business, with the theme “Unlocking Funding for Women in Business.” The discussion, led by Edem Attor, Mimi Anane Appiah, and Seyram Ofori-Atta, highlighted key strategies for women entrepreneurs to access funding and grow their businesses.
The all-female panelists emphasized the importance of leveraging digital tools, including AI and social media, to drive business growth. They encouraged businesses to use digital solutions to structure ideas, manage finances, and gather customer feedback.
They emphasized the significance of consistency in using social media to add credibility to businesses. Seyram Ofori, Co-Founder of Your Investment Friend, Atta highlighted the benefits of using MTN MoMo and other financial apps for payments to ensure accountability, stating that “you cannot do without digitization.”
Securing Funding and Grants
The panelists provided tips on securing funding, advising applicants to ensure accurate details on proposals to facilitate communication with funding agencies. Edem Attor, Partnership Officer at the UNDP, noted that grants can come in forms other than cash, such as technical support to help the business establish robust systems for efficiency.
Documentation and Financial Discipline
Seyram Ofori Atta, emphasized that registering businesses and securing necessary documentation was crucial for women entrepreneurs. Paying SSNIT and taxes was also highlighted as essential for establishing credibility and paving the way for future engagements.
Networking and Alternative Funding Options
Mimi Anane Appiah, Business Development Manager- Your Investment Friends, underscored the importance of networking and considering soft loans from professional networks to support business growth. She was of the view that by adopting these strategies, women entrepreneurs can unlock new opportunities and drive business success.
