aYo Intermediaries Ghana LTD (aYo Ghana), the microinsurance subsidiary of MTN Ghana, has again won three prestigious industry awards this year, confirming its position as the leader in mobile insurance and a promoter of financial inclusion in the country.

At the recent Ghana Corporate Brands Awards 2024, aYo Ghana received the “Mobile Insurance Brand of the Year” award, confirming its outstanding performance.

Again, at the Ghana Insurance Awards 2024, aYo grabbed the “Mobile Insurance Leadership Award”. Its innovative and inclusive motor insurance product, aYo Pay & Drive, also won the “Product Innovation of the Year Award”.

Francis Gota, aYo Ghana CEO

Under its CEO, Francis Gota, aYo Ghana has made significant strides in insurance penetration, covering up to 25% of the Ghanaian population, particularly those in the low-to-middle income bracket.

This achievement is notable in a country where insurance penetration is still less than 2%.

Gota dedicated the awards to his team, stating, “Your dedication and resilience are truly appreciated. I am so proud of all the achievements of the team for the past few years and last year in particular. We wouldn’t be where we are today without each employee’s input and hard work. Thank you for making us successful”.

He charged aYo employees to remain positive and continue striving to better lives with customer-centric products and services.

Over the past 7 years, aYo has committed to creating a future where every Ghanaian not only buys insurance but uses it to improve their quality of life. With over 8.2 million customers and more than GHS20 million claims paid to over 47,000 policyholders and beneficiaries, aYo remains the leading microinsurance company in Ghana.

In partnership with MTN and MobileMoney Ltd, aYo provides accessible, affordable, easy-to-use microinsurance products and solutions to all MTN subscribers.

Leveraging technology and underwritten by Sanlam Allianz Ghana (Life and General), aYo offers Hospitalization and Life Insurance cover to policyholders and their family members through airtime deduction or MoMo.

Currently, aYo offers four main products which are Recharge with Care (RwC), RwC Annual Cover, aYo Family Cover, and the recently introduced aYo Pay & Drive, which aims to revolutionize motor insurance in the country.

aYo’s products also help low-income Ghanaians cover funeral expenses for loved ones while strengthening household resilience to risk. Often, covering funeral expenses relies on family members, loans, and trading capital, leading to emotional distress and financial strain.

The hospital cash benefits cover hospital bills and income replacement for the policyholder’s income loss during hospitalization.
