ATOA organises training for travel agents across Africa

Africa Tour Operators Alliance – Ghana (ATOA) Business  Bureau, an umbrella organization comprising of tour operators has organized an effective free virtual training for all Travel Agents in Ghana and the rest of Africa.

As businesses are gradually picking up, the training emphasized on how agencies could handle Travel, Hospitality & Tourism businesses with the new normal during and after the Corona  virus pandemic.

The skills empowerment programme, considered very important by the alliance company, was organized on Friday 21st August, 2020 through a webinar with the theme:

Travelling within the New Normal: Tourist Behaviour, Business Resilience & Rebound Strategies”

Dr. Collins Agyemang Badu, a  Licensed Industrial and Organizational Psychologist, and Lead Psychologist for Ghana COVID-19 Response Team, who was the main facilitator, highlighted major challenges the Covid-19 pandemic caused for Travel Agents.

As the Vice President for the Ghana Psychological Association, spearheading the various sessions of the training, he advised agents to develop new skills that would propel their activities irrespective of the dangers associated with Corona virus.

This capacity building training which  was sponsored by Pacific Global Destination Management and powered by ATOA enlightened members on critical areas of development that should be appreciated and observed during this period of covid spread in tackling businesses.

Many participants who took part in the  training mainly Ghanaians, Nigerians & Kenyans, acknowledged the benefits of the various thematic areas tackled by the facilitator.

These included, national and International membership and  recognition as promised by the company.

Industry network was created for easy access to travel markets as participants had the privilege of connecting with other team members.

Those who participated equally had the opportunity  of securing discount for subsequent training programs that would be organized by ATOA.

They also stand the chance of negotiating tour rates at whole sale prices accompanied  by flight, and hotel attractions according to ATOA.

Through effective networking, they would also enjoy better terms of service from Airlines, Hotels and other suppliers along the value chain, ATOA added.

The Executive Board Members & Management team who initiated the training program to commence ATOA activities are, Vera Metzler-Hinson. She  is the Chief Executive Officer(CEO) of Aviation Business Series,  as Acting. Executive Director.

Gideon Asare, the  Managing Director (MD) of Adansi Travel is the Technical Head while Radia Adama Saani, Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of MoonTouch Travel Ltd is Head of Corporate Affairs, and Michael Ako-Nai, Chief  Executive Officer (CEO) of M&M Global Travels, a Member.

Other Advisory board Members of ATOA include, the Country Director of Kenya Airways -Ghana, Anthony Safo, Media Personnel & CEO of Kaya Tours, Aggrey Abeiku Santana, and some few others.
