The Ghana Chamber of Mines has officially launched the 18th edition of the West African Mining and Power Conference & Exhibition (WAMPEX 2025).
This year’s event, which was first launched at the Mining Indaba in Cape Town, South Africa, is themed “The Mining and Power Hub: Driving Sustainable Investment Opportunities in West Africa” and is scheduled to take place from May 28 to 30, 2025, at the Accra International Conference Centre.
According to Dr. Sulemanu Koney, CEO of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, WAMPEX has grown into the largest mining and power event in West Africa since its inception in 1994.
We are excited to host this event, which will bring together industry experts, investors, and stakeholders to discuss critical topics and showcase Ghana’s leadership in mining and power,” he said.
The conference will address key industry topics, including enhancing fiscal policies for economic growth, attracting exploration investment, advancing sustainable mining practices, strengthening local content for national development, and the impact of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) standards on investment trends in the mining and power sectors.
The event previously named WAMPOC-WAMPEX (West African Mining and Power Conference and West African Mining and Power Exhibition), will also feature an exhibition, where companies can showcase their products and services. Already, 60% of exhibition stands have been booked, reflecting strong investor confidence in Ghana’s mining and power industries.
The sector minister will be the guest of honor at the event, along with ministers from other ECOWAS countries. The Chamber’s 97th Annual General Meeting (AGM) will also take place on May 30, 2025.
Dr. Koney emphasized the importance of WAMPEX 2025, stating that it is a key platform to showcase Ghana’s leadership in mining and power and drive sustainable investment into the country and the wider West African region.
He also noted that the event will provide a unique opportunity for stakeholders to engage, innovate, and drive sustainable investment into Ghana and the wider West African region.
The Ghana Chamber of Mines is encouraging all industry players to leverage this opportunity to showcase their products and services, network with industry experts, and drive business growth.
WAMPEX 2025 is expected to attract over 1,000 delegates from across the globe, including investors, policymakers, and industry experts. The event will provide a platform for stakeholders to discuss critical industry topics, showcase their products and services, and drive business growth.
The Ghana Chamber of Mines is committed to promoting sustainable mining practices and driving economic growth in the mining and power sectors. WAMPEX 2025 is a key part of this effort, and the Chamber is encouraging all stakeholders to participate in the event.
