Police arrest robbers captured on CCTV robbing MoMo vendor

Police in the North East Region have arrested two persons who were caught in a CCTV footage robbing a mobile money vendor in Nasia, near Walewale in the West Mamprusi Municipality.

The two, identified as Wahab Yakubu, 28 and Fuseini Yakubu, 25 and of Fulani extraction, were part of a four man robbery gang who stormed the premises of the mobile money vendor Wednesday evening and robbed him at gunpoint.

The two others are currently on the run.

How it happened

According to North East Region Police Command, the incident happened at about 6:30pm, on Wednesday July 28, when the suspects attacked the vendor, identified only as Abubakari at his shop in Nasia at gunpoint and robbed him of an amount of Ghc 25,000.00.

Police say the suspects bolted on an unregistered motorbike.

The police said a CCTV camera installed in the mobile money shop captured the suspects and the video was quickly made available to the Police which led to the arrest of the two persons.

Bounty

Acting North East Regional Police PRO, ASP Robert Anabiik Anmain in a statement disclosed that a bounty of Ghc 2000 has been placed on the two currently on the run and will be given to anyone who provides information leading to their arrest.

He appealed to the general public to volunteer information that could lead to arrest of the two other suspects currently at large.
