MTN Launches 2024 SME Month to Empower Micro, Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises

MTN Ghana has launched its 2024 SME Month, a month-long event aimed at supporting micro, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) with cutting-edge digital solutions.

The initiative seeks to drive digital and financial inclusion among SMEs, recognizing their critical role in driving economic growth.

Speaking at the launch, Angela Mensah Poku, Chief Enterprise Business Officer for MTN Business, remarked that this year’s event is an improvement from previous years event taking into account feedback from participants.

We have partners from the insurance, banking and stakeholders from other sectors providing the mulch needed information and support to our SMEs,” she stated,

She noted that the event will provided SMEs with a valuable platform to showcase their products, network with potential partners and customers, and learn from industry experts.

Mohammed Abubakari-Sidick, Head of SME at MTN Business, emphasized the significant contribution of SMEs to Ghana’s economy, constituting about 70% of GDP and creating jobs at a relatively low capital cost.

He noted that SMEs are an excellent breeding ground for entrepreneurship and managerial talents, and MTN is committed to providing them with a platform, training, and access to affordable financing to support their businesses.

Tsonam Akpeloo, Greater Accra Chairman of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), commended MTN for leading the way in supporting SMEs and urged the company to provide seamless solutions as it woos MSMEs to go digital.

The 2024 MTN SME Month will feature a 3-day fair, workshops, seminars, and networking opportunities, all designed to enhance the visibility and capabilities of participating SMEs.

Throughout SME Month, MTN Ghana will raise awareness of its SME-specific products and services, offer special discounts and tailored incentives, and provide training and access to affordable financing to support SMEs.

The event is themed “Business done smatter, faster and better” will include fairs in Accra and Kumasi, seminars, networking, economic employment, and pop-up shops for SMEs to exhibit their products.
