Kotoka Airport to charge USD20 Extra On Round Trips

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) has announced a new fee for travelers using the Kotoka International Airport in Accra starting May 1, 2024.

The fee, amounting to $20 (GHS 257) for round-trip airline tickets, aims to cover the costs associated with baggage belt repairs and other maintenance work at the airport.

According to a letter dated March 11, 2024, addressed to the Chairperson of the Airport Operators Committee of the Kotoka International Airport and signed by the Managing Director of GACL, Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, the fee will be applied to all departing travelers.

The letter specifies that $10 of the fee will be charged for each leg of the trip, totaling $20 for a round-trip ticket.

This decision comes after discussions with the executives of the Airport Operators Committee regarding baggage belt maintenance issues, and it has been made in consultation with the Ministry of Transport.

The GACL emphasizes that the fee will go towards overhauling and maintaining baggage belts, ensuring smooth operations at the airport. Travelers departing from Kotoka International Airport are expected to comply with this new fee structure starting May 1, 2024.
