Ing. Fred Attakumah Is New First Vice President Of The Ghana Chamber Of Mines

Ing. Fred Attakumah takes over from George Nutor, who served as First Vice President of the Chamber from July 2022 to June 2023. Ign. Attakumah is currently the Executive Vice President and Country Director of Asante Gold Corporation.

Fred Attakumah brings a wealth of experience and expertise to his new position, having played a pivotal role in the mining industry for several decades. He has demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, strategic vision, and a deep commitment to sustainable mining practices.

Attakumah will join the current leadership in advancing the Chamber’s mission to promote sustainable and responsible mining in the country whilst fostering collaboration among stakeholders.

Prior to this, Ign. Attakumah served in various senior positions within the mining industry, including the role of Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana Limited, where he played a key role in guiding the company towards operational excellence and community engagement.

Profile of Fred Attakumah

Ign. Attakumah has more than thirty years of experience in the mining industry, spanning project development, operations management, sustainability, and corporate affairs.

He holds a B.Sc. (Hons) in Electrical Engineering from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Ghana) and a Master of Business Administration degree from the Henley Business School (UK).

Prior to joining Asante Gold Limited, he was the Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana Limited.

He has also held several senior executive roles including Managing Director of AngloGold Ashanti (Ghana) Limited and Vice President of Sustainability for AngloGold Ashanti’s operations in Ghana.
