SMEs play a critical role in developing economies the world over. According to the World Bank, SMEs account for the majority of businesses worldwide. They represent about 90% of businesses and more than 50% of employment worldwide.
Access to funding is a major issue that impact businesses and plays a key role in SMEs’ ability to initiate and innovate, improve efficiency, expand the scope of their operations, and create more jobs.
However, majority of SMEs lack access to the funding they need to grow their businesses, and become important contributors to job creation and economic development.
