we urge the government to adopt a comprehensive and multi-stakeholder approach to address the root causes of illegal mining, said the statement.
This approach should involve collaboration with the government, civil society organizations, traditional authorities, and local communities to promote sustainable mining practices and enhance the benefits of mining to Ghanaian citizens.
The Chamber also commended state security agencies for their efforts to maintain law and order and urged the government to prioritize public safety, protect lives, and safeguard investments made by mining companies.
By working together, the Ghana Chamber of Mines believes that the mining sector can contribute significantly to national development while preventing unfortunate incidents like the recent clashes.
