Disinfection exercise: Bono East to continue after phase II ends

The Bono East Regional Minister Hon. Kofi Amoakohene has expressed his commitment towards adopting and making disinfection a regular practice in the region.

He said the pandemic is that it has taught people to practice personal hygiene and proper sanitation and to ensure that this continues the municipality will organize disinfection, fumigation and clean up exercise regularly.

The Regional Minister made the promise while launching the Region’s markets disinfection exercise in Bono East on Thursday.

This is the second phase of the exercise and we are disinfecting the markets and public places to keep our environment safe and free from covid-19″, Hon. Amoakohene emphasized.

… And we are disinfecting all these places. Today we will extend it to public toilets as well”.

He stressed that the exercise is President’s special initiative through the local government ministry in collaboration with Zoomlion to rid the 48 markets in the region of any virus and bacteria with the sole aim of curbing the corona virus pandemic. Major markets disinfected the sanitation officers included those in Techiman, Tuobodom, Nkoranza among others.

The Minister later commended the local government minister and Zoomlion for doing what he described as dedicated and diligent job.

He also appealed to the people of the region to strictly adhere to the covid-19 protocols in their own interest since the covid-19, he said is real.

On his part, the Municipal Chief Executive of Techiman (MCE) John Kofi Donyina disclosed that adherence of the covid-19 protocol is not encouraging in the municipality.

He added however that his outfit has adopted a human face approach to convince them to adhere to the protocols in order for them to stay safe as well as combat the virus as a result.
