Deputy Fisheries Minister urges ADB to provide quick loans to women

The Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development, Francis Kingsley Ato Codjoe, has urged the Agriculture Development Bank (ADB) to provide quick loan opportunities to women in agriculture to expand their business.

Codjoe suggested to the Managing Director of ADB, Dr. John Kofi Mensah, to set up special desk for women in agriculture to speed up loan acquisition to expand their agricultural businesses.

Speaking at the National Farmer’s Day forum in Techiman, the Managing Director of ADB announced that the bank was implementing a strategic plan to increase the share of agricultural loans in banks by 50%.

He also added that the despite the COVID-19 pandemic, the bank has implemented the Broiler Outgrower Programme and it is expected to help decrease high chicken importation into the country.

The Deputy Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture Development also urged Ghanaians to patronise Ghanaian products. He said that Ghanaians should change their taste for foreign goods to ensure the success of government’s agricultural policies

He also added that the cedi’s depreciation can be reduced if Ghana stops the importation of food items that can be produced in the country.
