Coronavirus outbreak: SA flight turned back from KIA

A South African flight which touched down at the Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra Wednesday morning has been returned without anyone disembarking.

JoyNews sources say authorities at the Airport took the drastic decision after detecting a suspected case of the novel coronavirus aboard the flight.

One of the passengers is reported to have a higher than normal temperature; which is one of the symptoms of the COVID-19.

Sources say the flight has flown back to South Africa.

A directive from the Jubilee House has banned travel into Ghana from countries which have recorded more than 200 cases of the pandemic.

South Africa, however, has recorded 116 cases, per Bloomberg’s stats but considering that all of Ghana’s cases are imported, more stringent measures are being taken to stall a possible hike in numbers.
