As part of measures to ensure the safety of students and teachers on June 29 school reopening for all JHS final year students, basic schools within the Asokwa Municipality in Kumasi- Ashanti Region have benefited from the nationwide disinfection exercise being undertaken by Zoomlion Ghana Limited.
About 48 schools including Our Lady of Apostles School, St Cyprian’s Anglican school, Atonso Presby Bethel Experimental School among others benefited from the two day disinfection exercise. The others are Farsonh International JHS, Glorious Nyame Bekyere, Golden Rule JHS, Havard Royal International JHS, Jesus Only International JHS, Joy Standard JHS, Larbec International Academy, Malincol Educational Centre, Praise Baptist JHS, and Unique Standard School etc. However, Zoomlion is expected to disinfect about 2000 private schools in Greater Kumasi metropolitan area.
The Administrator of Our Lady of Apostles School, Anne Andoh, expressed gratitude to the government and Zoomilion for undertaking this exercise. “This exercise marks our final phase of preparedness for the reopening of the school for teaching and learning activities,” she stated.
According to her, the school is expecting 28 final year students for the 11 week learning and revision period towards their BECE examination. “These students will be divided into two groups making a class of 14 to ensure social/physical distancing,” she emphasized.
She added that the school has employed a nurse, secured a thermometer gun and enough veronica buckets and hand sanitizers to enable the school and the students adhere to the preventive protocols to curb the spread of Covid-19.
Rev. James Dapaah, Headmaster -Atonso Presby Bethel Experimental SchoolAt the Atonso Presby Bethel Experimental School, the Headmaster of the school, Rev. James Dapaah, said his school was expecting 129 students for preparation towards the final examination. “These students would be divided into a class of five so we that we can maintain the distancing protocols,” he noted. He added that the teaching staff have met and done the necessary arrangement for classes to begin.
