The Techiman Business Centre of ASA Savings and Loans Limited in collaboration with the Kintampo Municipal hospital has organized a free health screening for their clients and members of the public at the Techiman lorry station in the Bono East Regional capital.
Over 200 people benefited from the one-day medical outreach. They were screened on malaria, typhoid, hepatitis B, blood pressure and sugar level among others. Free medications were also provided to the participants after the screening.
The health screening exercise forms part of the Social corporate responsibility of the financial institution towards their clients in their operational areas.
The Medical Laboratory Technologist of the kintampo Municipal Hospital, Abigail Akenten, who was superintended the screening educated the participants on the need to check on their health regularly so as to stay healthy.
She said hepatitis B and high blood pressure were the most prevailing diseases being recorded at health facilities across the country, hence the call to the public for early detection and management.
She advised those with high blood pressure condition to eat well balanced diets and cut down on consumption of alcohol and salt intake, adding “they must as well take their medication which have been prescribed for them by doctor.”
The Divisional Manager ASA Savings and Loans Limited in charge of Techiman and Tamale Areas, Hiul Hasan said the screening which is done periodically to help the clients to know their health status and ensure they are healthy at all times.
He said most of their clients are low-income earners who they realised could not afford high cost treatment, hence the screening exercise as a way to give back to their host communities
As part of the screening, the patrons were presented with treated mosquito bed nets for use.
