The traditional leaders, however, called on the government and Zoomlion Ghana Limited to ensure that natives are given the first option of employment.

Our natives must be given employment first before non natives since they have given out their lands and livelihood to ensure the success of this project” said Nana Bosompra.

According to him, this single act will address unemployment and the urban migration that the region is battling with.

The project, which will process solid waste from all the districts within the region into fertilizer, is expected to be completed within four months, is under a partnership of Zoomlion Ghana Limited (ZGL) and its private sector partners and the Ministry of Sanitation and Water Resources.

The facility when completed, will have facilities including plastic waste recycling, finished products and spare parts, compost workshop, sorting workshop and an office building. The rest are restaurant, weighing bridge, recycling plant, washing bay, skills training scavengers, clinic and a laboratory.
