The Director of Analyse, Research and Finance of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Christopher Opoku Nyarko, has called on personnel of the Ghana Police Service who are deployed to the Mining Companies to execute their duties with Professionalism in accordance with the code of ethics of the Service to benefit all and sundry in Ghana.
He said by so doing will go a long way avoid violating of the fundamental human rights of the community members of the mining companies they are assigned to operate.
Nyarko made the call in an interview with the media, at a training workshop the Chamber organised for 150 police personal at the Ghana Police Command and Staff College, at Winneba.
According to him, the training was part of their collaboration with the Ghana Police Service who help the mining Industry with their personnel to help protect assets at the various Mining Companies.
He indicated that, they periodic organise such trainings to help improve the personnel service delivery to the mining industry and the country as a whole.
That is the reason we brought a team comprising the Chamber Legal Person, Madam Shaila Minkah Premo, some operational officers from the Mines led by the chairman of the Chamber Security committee”, He said.
He stated that Edwin Asare from Gold Fields Ghana Limited, Madam Theresa Abrema Obosu, Senior Officer Administration, Training and Project of AngloGold Ashanti Iduapriem Mine and Martin Baah Ahwireng, Security Manager of Perseus Mining Company limited, were the facilitators.
In their presentations, urged them to cooperate with the already security personnel in the various mining companies that together have lovely and peaceful mind to mine and to report they challenges the authorities for redress.
DSP Mose Gyan Mpettey, Staff Officer Operations, on behalf of the Inspector General of Police and the Police Administration, thanked the Organisers of the training and assure that the men will make good use of the knowledge and skills they have leant to being sanity at the various companies’ areas of operation.
