President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo will deliver his final State of the Nation Address (SONA) on Friday, January 3, 2025, at 10:00 am.
This address is a constitutional obligation under Article 67 of the 1992 Constitution and comes ahead of the dissolution of the 8th Parliament of the 4th Republic.
The 8th Parliament will officially dissolve on Monday, January 6, 2025, paving the way for the inauguration of the 9th Parliament. Later that evening at 11:00 pm, the newly elected Members of Parliament (MPs) will gather to elect a Speaker and two Deputy Speakers who will take their oaths at midnight.
Parliament has released detailed guidelines to facilitate seamless media coverage of these key events.
According to an official statement, accreditation is mandatory for all media personnel.
