The streets of Techiman were filled with hope this week as the RNAQ Foundation officially opened its latest food bank branch.
The opening ceremony, led by Emmanuel Lamptey on behalf of President Richard Nii Armah Quaye, marks a turning point for many families in the metropolis struggling with food costs.
Since its inception on August 1, 2025, the RNAQ Foundation has been on a fast-paced journey to blanket Ghana with support. Techiman now hosts the thirteenth branch of this ambitious project.
Lamptey told reporters that bringing the food bank to Techiman was a “necessary step” in fulfilling the foundation’s promise to bring relief directly to the doorsteps of the “good people of Ghana.”
The new facility is more than just a warehouse; it represents a commitment to the dignity of the local population. With a mission to serve the most vulnerable, the food bank will provide one hot meal a day, helping to stabilize the lives of those living on the margins.
Residents expressed a sense of pride and ownership over the new branch, with many stating that the physical presence of the foundation makes the President’s vision feel “real” and “attainable.”
Traditional authorities have thrown their full weight behind the project. Nana Kwame Brafi, speaking for Nana Akumfi Ameyaw IV, King of Techiman, invoked blessings on the Quaye family and encouraged the community to “make the most of” this resource.
The sentiment was shared by locals, who gathered to catch a glimpse of the new facility. “We used to see this on TV,” said one joyful resident, “but now it is here for us.”
