The Ghana Chamber of Mines has elected Ing. Frederick Attakumah, Executive Vice President and Country Director of Asante Gold Corporation, as its new President at the Chamber’s 98th Annual General Meeting (AGM).
Ing. Attakumah succeeds Michael Edem Akafia, Vice President for External Affairs at Gold Fields, who completed his two-year tenure after steering the Chamber through a period marked by significant industry developments and policy engagements.

The AGM also ushered in a new leadership team for the Chamber.
Angela D. Attieh, Chief Executive of Nguvu Holdings and the Chamber’s former Second Vice President, was elevated to the position of First Vice President, while Danquah Addo-Yobo, Country Manager of Newmont Ghana, was elected Second Vice President. In his inaugural address, Ing.

Attakumah expressed gratitude to members of the Chamber for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to lead with humility, collaboration, and a commitment to advancing the interests of Ghana’s mining industry.
Ashanti (Ghana) Limited and Executive Vice President and Managing Director of Asanko Gold Ghana Limited. He currently serves as Executive Vice President and Country Director of Asante Gold Corporation.

First Vice President Angela D.Attieh is the Chief Executive of Nguvu Holdings and a highly respected mining executive with more than 25 years of experience in finance, administration, mining operations, and strategic business growth across Africa.
Second Vice President Danquah Addo-Yobo serves as Country Manager of Newmont Ghana and brings more than two decades of multinational leadership experience spanning mining, agribusiness, telecommunications, and logistics across Africa, Asia, and North America.
