Residents of Atiwa commends Sanitation Ministry for evacuating rubbish

The residents of New Jejeti in the Atiwa district in the Eastern Region have heaved a sigh of relief and commended the Sanitation Ministry for evacuating unauthorized dump sites in the localities.

The Assembly Woman for the New Jejeti electoral Area, Vida Appiah, observed that the dumpsite was causing a lot of challenges to the residents as many were falling sick.

She, however, assured that measures have been instituted to prevent residents from dumping their refuse at the cleared land. These include citizen’s arrest as well as working with the security forces within the community to apprehend offenders.

She added that the cleared land would be used for farming to promote agriculture and ensure food security in the community.

Kofi Agyekum, a resident, also expressed appreciation to the ministry for ensuring that the community was clean and free from preventing diseases. Adding that the exercise will bring relief to the people.

The exercise, which is taking place across the country, is line with the President Nana Akufo-Addo’s vision of making the country one if the cleanest country in the sub-region.
