Twitter users have raised numerous reactions about the new Fleet feature added to the platform which was launched on November 17, 2020.
Some users have complained that the Fleet is going to bring about harassment on the social media platform. Meanwhile, other users see it as an opportunity to be Twitter influencers.
Twitter’s design director, Joshua Harris, and product manager, Sam Haveson, wrote in a blog post that “Some of you tell us that tweeting is uncomfortable because it feels so public, so permanent, and like there’s so much pressure to rack up retweets and likes,”
According to Twitter, Fleets allow you to share transitory thoughts, and after 24 hours, they’ll disappear from view. Share personal in-the-moment thoughts with your followers free of public reactions.
This feature is similar to the WhatsApp status and Instagram Stories feature. Fleet can include text, photos and videos. It is available on top of the user’s timeline with the profile picture of the user.
